Halve Maan
De Halve Maan is a family brewery located in the historic center of Bruges. The family Maes have run the brewery for six generations. Xavier Vanneste started in 2005 with the production of the well-known Brugse Zot. The beer was an immediate crowd pleaser, in Bruges and far beyond. In 2008 the Straffe Hendrik was introduced. The different beers have won several prestigious awards at the highest level. Because of the rising demand, the brewery has had to extend its capacity a few times. Since 2010 the brewery has added its separate bottling plant. In 2014 the brewery invested in a completely new brewing installation, this investment clearly shows how innovation and tradition go hand in hand in this city brewery. Since September 2016 the beer runs under the streets of Bruges through the famous pipeline to the bottling plant which is located about 3 kilometers from the brewery.
