HISTORY

The emergence of the Belgium special beers at the end of the 1980s formed the heart of the partnership Beer & Selected Beverages. Pioneering foreign brewers started to hit the Dutch markets. At first this mainly took place through the subsidiaries of larger Dutch brewers. But because of the lack of transparence and the wish to autonomously and directly do business with Dutch customers resulted into the awareness that the distribution should be executed by own means.

Four brewers decided to join forces and founded the Dutch beer sector BSB in 1996 with the help of young, but experienced, professionals from the Netherlands. A partnership in the shape of a European Economic partnership (EESV).

Since then, BSB has only grown stronger. Partly due to the clear vision of the founders: more members and a broader portfolio will not only result into lower costs and a better quality in service, but would also increasingly reinforce the established idea for customers that BSB is the organization for one stop shopping.

This vision shaped BSB to the success it is today. Both Belgium as well as German breweries, including the Dutch Craft-movement, were able to develop through the platform of BSB. From 2005 onwards we expanded our portfolio to other beverage segments by admission of the most important independent marketing organizations for distilled beverages on the Dutch market. Next to that, we successfully added wines and non-alcoholic beverages to our assortment over the years. As a result, we now more than ever live up to our name: Beer & Selected Beverages.

SYNERGY

A partnership offering a service with a higher quality against low costs. That is the fundament of BSB. At the same time there are great differences in size of portfolio and volume between members. Cooperation cannot result into a mutual sponsoring. In order to prevent this, BSB utilizes a sophisticated system of cost allocation for individual parties based on logistic features and performance data. In this manner, all of our partners profit from the overall total but still carry the responsibility for their own bills!

PIONEERING

More than 20 years ago we – a number of young but experienced people in the beer business – were handed the opportunity and trust to build BSB from the ground. A large part of us continues to build today, with the same pioneering spirit, for the growth, qualitative development and market position of BSB. We thereby appeal to a new generation of pioneers in the beer and beverage market who recognizes themselves in the BSB spirit.

 

MISSION

BSB’s mission is clear:

"We organize the distribution of beverages of our partners for the lowest possible cost and in accordance with the qualitative demands of the market."

We interpret the notion of distribution in a broad sense: we do not only consider transport and storage; we also take into consideration the maintenance of databases, execution of administration, provision of information, processing of waste fees, prices and discounts, invoicing and debtors ledger. The same goes for VAL activities like the repackaging to smaller trade items, organization of display repackaging etc.
Our partnership is based on mutual trust. For every decision we make on a daily basis, big or small, we follow the same standards:
